Book Club Anniversary

The Book Club of the St. Andrew\u2019s Society celebrated its fourth anniversary of books, gourmet- quality fare and lively discussions on Sunday, March 20 at its meeting in the Society\u2019s Library and Wee Kitchen of the Rooms. The selections read and discussed were Our Souls at Night <\/em>by Kent Heruf and The Girl on the Train<\/em> by Paula Hawkins (notice that the decoration on the buffet table includes a train!). The Club of fifteen members meets regularly through the year and reads a variety of books, both fiction and non-fiction. On some occasions the members will view a theatrical presentation or film based on its book selection. The Club hosted three other book clubs in the community at the Rooms to hear author Joseph Persico discuss his works on Roosevelt.<\/p>\n

The club meets about every six to eight weeks.\u00a0 We welcome members and their guests and look forward to our members who enjoy an afternoon or evening with a good book, good food,\u00a0a good discussion and good friends.<\/p>\n

We enjoy catching up on the news around the tables in the Wee Kitchen before the book discussion.<\/p>\n

It is a time to share ideas about what we have read, insights about the author’s work, and\u00a0meanings that we find buried in the text.\u00a0 Then comes the inevitable “clean up.”<\/p>\n
