Society\u00a0members and their guests enjoyed the annual Officers Barbeque that preceded the first meeting of the fall in September.\u00a0 The\u00a0summer activities included the Past Presidents’ Dinner and President’s Tea held during June and July.<\/p>\n

At the May meeting, the architect presented a preliminary report on the condition of the building and some possible changes to the ground floor that would\u00a0make the area\u00a0more usable.\u00a0\u00a0We are expecting a more complete report in the next month.\u00a0 We will then\u00a0fine-tune\u00a0it\u00a0before it is submitted to the membership.<\/p>\n

The Highland Games were held August 31 and September 1 at the Altamont Fair Grounds.\u00a0 It was well attended by members of the Society who maintained our tent and stood ready\u00a0to answer questions about the Society and its activities.<\/p>\n

We enjoyed a malt-tasting on July 13.\u00a0 We appreciated our neighbor, the Fort Orange Club, for inviting us to use its space for the evening.\u00a0 We are currently working on our malt-tasting\u00a0schedule for the fall and winter months.<\/p>\n

We were well represented at the Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan at Westminster Presbyterian Church on September 8.\u00a0 We thank the Session and Staff of Westminster for holding the service and including us.\u00a0 Of course, we acknowedged that several of the\u00a0Society members are also members at Westminster.<\/p>\n

Our Book\u00a0Club continues to enjoy its evenings of book discussions and are looking forward to an evening with Mr. Joseph Persico, a local author who\u00a0has\u00a0written several\u00a0books on Franklin Roosevelt, the latest being, Roosevelt’s Centurions,\u00a0<\/em>published in May.<\/p>\n

The Society received as a Non-Resident member the grandson of one of our Past Presidents at the September meeting.<\/p>\n

The fall is promising to be a busy season as always, with the Remembrance Day Observance in October and the election of officers in November followed by their installation to office in early December.<\/p>\n
